Most of the Devil Rays come out to whatever the music folks believe is popular. Perhaps it's a mindset instilled by manager Lou Piniella, but the players don't care as much about their at-back music as some other teams.
Fortunately, the music folks relish the responsibility. When Fred McGriff, one of the original Devil Rays, returned for a second tour in Tampa, he did not request any music. But in the "Crime Dog's" first plate appearance, he was introduced with Ludacris' "Where the Hood At" ... in which the first line is "The dog is here." Both the crowd and Fred loved it. Sadly, the Dog has since been released.
