 Prior to Geno Auriemma's arrival in the summer of 1985, the University of Connecticut women's basketball team had just one winning season in program history. Thirty years and nine national championships later, Auriemma has built the Huskies into one of the most dominant programs in collegiate athletics and established himself as one of the best coaches the game has ever seen. Auriemma is two victories shy of his 900th career coaching victory. The Huskies play at Temple on Sunday (ESPN2/WatchESPN, 2 p.m. ET) and host Cincinnati on Tuesday (ESPN3, 7 p.m. ET). Auriemma can become the fastest coach in college basketball history to reach the milestone. We take a by-the-numbers look at Geno's pursuit of 900. 1,034: If he wins his next two games, Auriemma can amass 900 victories in just 1,034 games, reaching the milestone faster than any other coach in NCAA basketball history -- all divisions, men's or women's. Former Tennessee coach Pat Summitt -- the sport's all-time wins leader -- holds the current record, having earned 900 wins in 1,072 games. Duke's Mike Krzyzewski is the fastest men's coach to reach the milestone (1,183 games).  6: Auriemma will become the sixth head coach in Division I women's basketball history -- joining Summitt, Sylvia Hatchell, C. Vivian Stringer, Tara VanDerveer and Jody Conradt -- to reach 900 wins and the first male to do so coaching a women's team. .870: With a career record of 898-134, Auriemma's .870 winning percentage is the best by any coach in Division I basketball history, men's or women's (minimum 10 seasons coached). Auriemma surpassed the mark of .869 held by former Louisiana Tech women's coach Leon Barmore earlier this season. Kentucky's Adolph Rupp is the winningest men's coach (.822 win percentage). 405: The Huskies have been ranked in the AP Top 25 for 405 consecutive weeks, 179 of which have been spent as the No. 1 team in the country. No player on the Huskies' current roster was even born the last time UConn played as an unranked team (March 17, 1993). 9: Auriemma's nine NCAA championships are the most by any coach in Division I women's basketball history. Legendary UCLA men's coach John Wooden is the only coach with more titles (10). Auriemma already has more career wins than the Wizard of Westwood and broke Wooden's record in December 2010 for the longest win streak in Division I basketball history. 3: Auriemma joins Summitt and Krzyzewski as the only head coaches to win an NCAA championship, Olympic gold medal and world championship. 1,098: Pat Summitt's 1,098 wins are the most ever by a collegiate basketball coach. At his current average of 30 wins per season, the 60-year-old Auriemma could pass that mark in seven more seasons. Auriemma and Summitt, who faced off 22 times, have combined to win 17 of the 33 national championships in Division I women's basketball history.
