ATLANTA -- Wide receiver Ashley Lelie will miss Sunday's season finale in Philadelphia, perhaps ending the five-year veteran's brief tour with the Atlanta Falcons.
Lelie suffered a separated left shoulder in Sunday's loss to Carolina while attempting to make a difficult catch in the fourth quarter. It is uncertain if he would be available for the playoffs should Atlanta overcome long odds to grab the final NFC wild-card berth.
Second-year veteran Roddy White, the Falcons' first-round choice in the 2005 draft, will replace Lelie. He began the season as a starter.
Lelie, 26, was acquired from Denver in a three-team preseason trade. In the deal, the Falcons sent tailback T.J. Duckett to Washington and the Broncos received draft choices from the Redskins. The formula for determining the draft choices is complicated, but it appears Denver will net a third-round pick in the 2007 draft and fourth-round selection in 2008.
After sitting out the offseason conditioning program in Denver and missing training camp, Lelie has had little impact on the Falcons' passing game and was just as inconsistent as the other Atlanta wide receivers.
The former University of Hawaii standout, the Broncos' first-round pick in 2002, has just 28 catches for 430 yards and one touchdown in 15 games, including 10 starts. The catches and receiving yards will establish career lows for Lelie.
For his career, he has 196 receptions for 3,437 yards and 13 touchdowns. Because he is eligible for unrestricted free agency, Lelie can depart Atlanta in the spring, and the Falcons will receive no compensation.
With White moving into the starting lineup for Sunday's game, rookie Adam Jennings is likely to assume the No. 3 wide receiver role.
