LB Brown agrees to one-year deal with Pats

Chad Brown is getting his second chance to help out the New England Patriots.

The 14-year veteran agreed to a one-year, $810,000 deal Wednesday to rejoin the Patriots, who released him during the offseason but kept in touch with him while he trained. Brown, 36, is a three-time Pro Bowler who can play inside or outside linebacker and also has the ability to rush the passer from the defensive end position on passing downs.

Brown played 15 games last season and had 31 tackles. He started five of the first six games for the Patriots.

The 6-foot-2, 245-pound Brown played four seasons for the Steelers and eight seasons for the Seahawks before joining the Patriots last year. His six-year, $24 million contract with the Seahawks ranked among the best signings in preseason history. He played all six years with the Seahawks and received a contract extension to keep him in Seattle.
