SEATTLE -- Shaun Alexander will have another X-ray of his injured foot Tuesday morning, but there is no guarantee the Seahawks running back will be able to play in Sunday's NFC West game against the Rams.
"I felt great for the past two weeks," Alexander said. "I've been working on the treadmill and really moving well. That's why I was so surprised last week when we took a picture of the foot and there was still a crack there."
The Seahawks don't plan to rush Alexander back and risk further injury to his foot. They lead the division by one game over the Rams with a 5-3 record. As long as they have the lead, Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren isn't going to take any chances.
If the crack hasn't healed, Alexander might not be able to return until Nov. 19 against the 49ers. That's the target date for the return of quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, who has missed two games with a knee injury.
The Seahawks rushed for 207 yards during their 16-0 Monday night win over the Raiders. Maurice Morris had his best game of the season filling in for Alexander, carrying 30 times for 138 yards.
Alexander, meanwhile, is crossing his fingers and hoping for good news Tuesday.
