The Atlanta Falcons became the third team to put in a formal request to interview San Diego Chargers offensive coordinator coordinator Cam Cameron.
The request arrived in the Chargers' office Thursday morning. The Falcons have until Sunday night to interview him. On Tuesday, the Cardinals put in a similar request for Cameron. On Wednesday evening, the Dolphins submitted a request to talk to Cameron.
All of those requests have been approved.
Cameron remains one of the league's hottest assistant coaches. He calls plays for a Chargers offense that leads with league with aa 30.8 scoring average, produced a running back (LaDainian Tomlinson) who set the NFL touchdown record with 31, and made Philip Rivers a Pro Bowl quarterback in his first full-time season.
Cameron, 45, coached quarterbacks for the Redskins from 1994-96 and was head coach at Indiana from 1997-2001. He joined the Chargers in 2002.
