Defensive end Bryant Young has worked out a deal to stay with the San Francisco 49ers for at least another season.
After voiding the final years of his contract because of playing time incentives, Young worked out a contract agreement that it is believed to be for one year. Though terms of the contract were unavailable, Young is probably going to make around the $4.25 million he was scheduled to make had the contract not been voided.
The 49ers didn't want to lose Young to free agency. He is a valuable leader on the team. His work ethic is a model of what Mike Nolan wants from all of his players. Because the 49ers would like to bring in as many as seven new starters on defense, Young is the leader Nolan wants to show them the right way to do things.
This will be Young's 14th season with the 49ers. Despite the age, he doesn't seem to be slowing down too much at the age of 35.
