MLB, Chicago White Sox, St. Louis Cardinals

ST. LOUIS -- White Sox pitcher Chris Sale has struck out at least 10 for the eighth straight game, matching the best run in major league history.

Sale reached the mark Tuesday night in a 2-1, 11-inning victory over the Cardinals. Pedro Martinez also struck out 10 in eight straight starts in 1999 for Boston.

Sale, who didn't factor into the decision, fanned Jhonny Peralta in the sixth inning for his 10th strikeout.

Sale went eight innings, scattering six hits while allowing one earned run. He finished with 12 strikeouts and a walk.
