Bears QB Jay Cutler returns, leads Bears past Raiders

CHICAGO -- Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, who had been hampered by a hamstring injury, started Sunday's 22-20 victory against the Oakland Raiders.

"I felt good enough to go," Cutler said. "I took some reps throughout the week, felt good about our game plan and we thought we would give it a shot and see how it went."

Cutler threw for two touchdowns and led the Bears on their game-winning field goal drive in the final minute. He was 28-of-43 for 281 yards in the victory. He also threw an interception.

"Jay is a tough son of a bug," Bears coach John Fox said. "He fought an injury. Some lesser guys may have not been out there, but he was. I thought all in all, he played outstanding, and well enough for us to win."

Cutler capped the Bears' first possession with a 7-yard touchdown pass to Eddie Royal. He threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to tight end Martellus Bennett later in the first half.

"There are some things Jay can do that other quarterbacks can't do," Bennett said. "I'm very happy to be out there playing with him. Hopefully he keeps getting healthier as we move on. I think he was still a little hurt but he stepped up and played throughout."

In the second half, he was intercepted by the Raiders' Charles Woodson. It was the 62nd interception of Woodson's career, tying him with Dick LeBeau and Dave Brown for the ninth most in NFL history.

"I think the wind caught the ball on that play and it was behind a little bit," said Bennett, the intended target on the interception.

The Bears had listed Cutler as questionable for Sunday with a strained hamstring, but the quarterback took the majority of practice reps this week over backup Jimmy Clausen.

Cutler did not appear bothered by the hamstring when he dropped back during warm-ups Sunday, throwing several different route combinations to his receivers. He did not run on the Soldier Field turf, however, during the 20-minute workout session.

"I don't like the training room," Cutler said. "I want to be back on the field, back playing, so that's my mindset."

Also, receiver Alshon Jeffery remained out, as he continues to be hampered by a hamstring injury. The former Pro Bowl receiver may return next week at Kansas City.
