UGA's Keith Marshall 'looks great'

HOOVER, Ala. -- The Georgia Bulldogs will be getting a couple of key pieces of their offense back in time for the season.

Coach Mark Richt said on Thursday that junior running back Keith Marshall, and junior receivers Malcolm Mitchell and Justin Scott-Wesley are recovering from ACL injuries they suffered last season and will go through fall practice, which starts in early August.

Marshall and Scott-Wesley both suffered their knee injuries in Georgia's 34-31 win over Tennessee on Oct. 5. Mitchell suffered his injury early in the Bulldogs' season-opening loss to Clemson.

Marshall started running this spring, but is cutting and will be able to take contact during preseason practice.

"Keith looks great," Richt said during the final day of SEC media days. "I've watched him run straight ahead; he looks outstanding in that area. I don't know if he'd say he's 100 percent today, but he has no limitations whatsoever in his training. He can run routes, he can pass [skeleton], he can do anything.

"We think Day 1, he'll be 100 percent, ready to compete."

Last season, Marshall ran for 246 yards and a touchdown on 56 carries before leaving the Tennessee game. He rushed for 759 yards and eight touchdowns as a freshman.

Richt also said that Mitchell, who was a starting receiver for the Bulldogs for two seasons before his injury, "looks great" and that he expects him to be ready for the opening of fall camp. Mitchell has caught 85 career passes for 1,237 yards with four touchdowns and is considered one of the SEC's most talented returning receivers.

Richt wasn't as sure about when Scott-Wesley would return to 100 percent, but believes he'll be available early in fall camp.

"I think he might be available to play Day 1, but I don't know if he'll be playing at a tempo in where we feel like he's ready to do it at the highest level," Richt said. "And there's a lot of competition at that position, as well. I'm not 100 percent sure how long it'll be before he gets in there and can go full speed."

Scott-Wesley, already one of the team's fastest players, is expected to be one of Georgia's top returning receiving targets this fall and has 446 career receiving yards with three touchdowns.
