Georgia-South Carolina game starts

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The game between No. 6 Georgia and No. 24 South Carolina has started after a delay of nearly 90 minutes for rain and lightning.

Officials announced the delay about 30 minutes before the scheduled kickoff, then waited through several lightning strikes and storms until the weather system moved through the area.

The teams had a 10-minute warm up period before heading to their sidelines for the kickoff.

NCAA and Southeastern Conference rules call for at least a 30-minute wait once a lightning strike is detected in the area. Neither team had been out on the field to warm up.

The sixth-ranked Bulldogs (1-0, 0-0 SEC) have lost in their past two trips at South Carolina (1-1, 0-1).
