Miami, Kevin Olsen part ways

College Football, Miami Hurricanes

Quarterback Kevin Olsen is no longer enrolled at Miami, the school announced Tuesday, one day after the redshirt freshman was suspended by the football program for a third time after being charged Monday morning with driving under the influence and having a fake or stolen driver's license.

The incident was the latest in a long line of them since Olsen signed with the Hurricanes. He was charged in May 2013 in his hometown of Wayne, New Jersey, with leaving the scene of an accident and failing to report an incident.

In Coral Gables, Florida, Olsen was suspended for last season's Russell Athletic Bowl for team rules violations. He entered this season with the chance to start for Miami before getting suspended for the first two games for a violation of team standards.

The team suspended Olsen again Monday, after Miami-Dade County jail records showed Olsen was booked at 4:11 a.m. ET on Monday and was released on $6,000 bail. Police say Olsen failed field sobriety tests and had five different driver's licenses on him.

Olsen was a four-star prospect from the Class of 2013 and is the younger brother of Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen. He leaves Miami without ever appearing in game action.

The 2-1 Hurricanes travel to No. 24 Nebraska on Saturday to renew their rivalry with the Cornhuskers (ESPN2, 8 p.m. ET).
