LSU-Miami slated for 2018 opener

College Football, LSU Tigers, Miami Hurricanes

LSUĀ and Miami will open the 2018 season at the AdvoCare Cowboys Classic in Arlington, Texas.

The Sept. 1, 2018, game, which will be played at the Dallas Cowboys' AT&T Stadium, will be the 13th meeting between the programs. LSU is 9-3 against Miami and won the teams' last meeting, 40-3, in the 2005 Chick-fil-A Bowl.

LSU also announced Thursday that it will play a home-and-home series with Texas in 2019 and 2020. The Tigers will visit Texas on Sept. 7, 2019, and the Longhorns will play the return game in Baton Rouge on Sept. 12, 2020. The 2019 game will be their first meeting since New Year's Day 2003, when Texas beat LSU 35-20 in the Cotton Bowl.

LSU and Miami have not met in the regular season since 1988, when No. 3 Miami blasted No. 11 LSU 44-3 at Tiger Stadium in Jimmy Johnson's final season as the Hurricanes' coach.

The 2018 game will mark the 10th anniversary of the AdvoCare Cowboys Classic and will be the third time LSU plays in the game. The Tigers beat Oregon 40-27 to open the 2011 season and beat TCU 37-27 last year. It will be the first time Miami appears in the game and at AT&T Stadium.

Organizers have announced the matchups for the next four AdvoCare Cowboys Classics. Alabama and Wisconsin will open the 2015 season in Arlington, followed by Alabama-USC in 2016, Florida-Michigan in 2017 and LSU-Miami in 2018.
