FSU to open '16 vs. Ole Miss

College Football, Florida State Seminoles, Mississippi Rebels

Florida State and Ole Miss will open the 2016 season in Orlando's Citrus Bowl, sources told ESPN.

The game is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 5, 2016. The stadium has undergone a $207 million reconstruction that's expected to be completed this month.

Orlando is the latest city to get in the game of hosting neutral-site matchups on college football's opening weekend. Other cities currently hosting opening weekend neutral-site games include Arlington, Texas; Houston; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Atlanta.

Kansas City also will host a neutral-site game next year when Missouri plays BYU on Nov. 14, 2015, at Arrowhead Stadium.

The meeting between FSU and Ole Miss will be only the second between the Seminoles and Rebels. Ole Miss won the first meeting 33-0 in 1961.

Both teams participated in neutral-site games to open this season: Florida State defeated Oklahoma State in Arlington, and Ole Miss defeated Boise State in Atlanta.
