Diggs out for rest of regular season

College Football, Maryland Terrapins

Maryland wide receiver Stefon Diggs won't play in the Terrapins' final two regular-season games but might return for the team's bowl game, coach Randy Edsall told reporters Thursday.

Diggs has not played since Maryland beat Penn State on Nov. 1. He stayed on the field temporarily after a hit in the fourth quarter of that game before returning to action.

The Baltimore Sun reported that Diggs suffered a lacerated kidney during the game. Maryland's team policy is not to comment on player injuries.

The junior remains the team's top receiver with 52 catches, 654 yards and five touchdowns. Diggs also missed significant time as a sophomore after breaking his fibula in October.

Maryland (6-4, 3-3 Big Ten) plays at Michigan on Saturday and hosts Rutgers in its regular-season finale Nov. 29.
