Mike Riley announces coaching hires

Nebraska coach Mike Riley announced Thursday that he's bringing in four of his assistant coaches from Oregon State.

The Cornhuskers' new additions include a pair of defensive assistants -- Beavers defensive coordinator Mark Banker and linebackers coach Trent Bray -- as well as Oregon State offensive line coach Mike Cavanaugh and special teams coach Bruce Read.

Riley has not officially named the coaches' designations, other than Read at special teams, but Bray listed himself as linebackers coach on his Twitter page.

"I am excited to have the first pieces in place regarding our staffing," Riley said in a news release. "I'm very excited about the coaches that are on board right now. I've worked with them and trust them and know the kind of work they do."

The Cornhuskers announced Riley as their new head coach Dec. 4, days after firing Bo Pelini upon his seventh season without a conference title. Riley served as Oregon State's head coach from 1997 to '98, and again from 2003 to '14, compiling a 93-80 record during that time.
