Boise State coach Bryan Harsin has announced the addition of graduate transfer Kelsey Young, a former Stanford running back who will be eligible to play for the Broncos immediately.
The fifth-year senior joins his younger brother Cory Young, a redshirt freshman back, on Boise State's roster.
Both are considered vital components in the Broncos' bid to replace star running back Jay Ajayi, who rushed for 1,823 yards and scored 32 touchdowns in Boise State's 2014 Fiesta Bowl championship season.
The 5-foot-10, 191-pound Young, who earned a computer science degree from Stanford, was the Cardinal's second-leading rusher this past season.
His quickness, particularly evident in space, helped him racked up 331 yards on 66 carries.
He delivered the opening touchdown in Stanford's 20-14 Rose Bowl victory over Wisconsin in 2013.
Between the Young brothers, sophomore Jeremy McNichols, senior Jack Fields, and junior Devan Delmas, Boise State anticipates having five scholarship running backs available come fall.
Meanwhile, Stanford is expected to rely on Christian McCaffrey, Remound Wright, and Barry Sanders at the running back position.
