Perry Hills to start at QB vs. Ohio State

Perry Hills will start at quarterback Saturday for Maryland against top-ranked Ohio State, the latest development in the three-way battle to be the Terrapins' starter under center.

Hills started Maryland's first two games this season but has not played since the Terrapins' loss to Bowling Green on Sept. 12. He has completed 52.9 percent of his passes for 306 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions this season.

Caleb Rowe started in Week 3 and led Maryland to a victory over South Florida despite throwing three interceptions and fumbling three times. One week later, after being picked off four times in a 45-6 loss to West Virginia, Rowe was pulled.

Rowe returned to start last Saturday against Michigan, but after going 8-for-27 for 47 yards and three interceptions, the redshirt junior was replaced by Oklahoma State transfer Daxx Garman in a second straight game.

Maryland coach Randy Edsall acknowledged earlier this week that all three quarterbacks are "out there trying."

"It's not because they're not giving effort," Edsall said Tuesday. "We just have to keep working with them to hit that groove, to hit that stride, for them to be able to play at the level they're capable of playing."
