Henry and McCaffrey are finalists for both the Doak Walker Award, given to the nation's top running back, and the Maxwell Award, given to college football's player of the year. Watson is up for both the Maxwell Award and the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award, given to the nation's top signal-caller. TCU senior Trevone Boykin and Oklahoma junior quarterback Baker Mayfield also are finalists for the O'Brien award. LSU sophomore running back Leonard Fournette is the third finalist for the Doak Walker.

Alabama leads FBS schools in nominations with three players up for four awards, followed by Stanford with two players up for three awards. In addition to the Maxwell and Doak Walker, the two schools will be competing for the Outland Trophy (nation's most outstanding interior lineman), as Alabama defensive lineman A'Shawn Robinson and Stanford guard Joshua Garnett are finalists along with Baylor offensive lineman Spencer Drango.

Big 12 star wide receivers Corey Coleman of Baylor and Josh Doctson of TCU are among the finalists for the Biletnikoff Award, along with Ole Miss' Laquon Treadwell. Duke senior safety Jeremy Cash, Florida junior cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III and Iowa junior cornerback Desmond King are the three finalists for the Jim Thorpe Award (nation's best defensive back).

Two Pennsylvania standouts are finalists for the Chuck Bednarik Award (defensive player of the year) in Temple linebacker Tyler Matakevich and Penn State defensive end Carl Nassib. Alabama senior linebacker Reggie Ragland is the third Bednarik finalist.

Matakevich is among four finalists from Group of 5 teams. San Jose State's Michael Carrizosa and Colorado State's Hayden Hunt both are finalists for the Ray Guy Award (punter of the year), and Memphis' Jake Elliott is a finalist for the Lou Groza Award (nation's outstanding placekicker). Utah punter Tom Hackett, the 2014 Ray Guy winner, is the only returning awards recipient named among this year's finalists.

In addition to the nine awards revealed during the show, winners for the John Mackey Award (top tight end), Rimington Award (top center) and Wuerffel Trophy (community service) will be recognized during The Red Carpet Special at the Home Depot College Football Awards.
