Kyle Davis chooses Auburn

College Football, Football Recruiting, Auburn Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, Tennessee Volunteers

Auburn landed a commitment from the No. 1-ranked wide receiver in the country, Kyle Davis, on Wednesday morning.

The 6-foot-2, 218-pound athlete out of Archer High School in Lawrenceville, Georgia, chose the Tigers over in-state Georgia and Tennessee.

Davis announced his decision on Twitter.

As a senior, Davis has totaled 773 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 47 receptions.

The four-star prospect and 28th-ranked player in the ESPN 300 for the 2016 class originally committed South Carolina but backed off that pledge before the season.

Davis, meanwhile, built a strong relationship with Auburn assistant coach Dameyune Craig. Although Davis took multiple trips to Tennessee and Georgia, the Tigers had too much to offer the talented pass-catcher.

The Tigers now have 16 commitments, including nine ranked in the ESPN 300 or the ESPN JC 50.

Davis is one of many ESPN 300 prospects expected to visit Auburn for the Iron Bowl this weekend. Others include the nation's No. 1-ranked player Rashan Gary, linebacker Rahshaun Smith and running back Kareem Walker, a recent Ohio State decommitment.
