AUSTIN, Texas -- The Big 12 has moved the TCU-Texas football game to the Friday after Thanksgiving, instead of playing on the holiday.

Texas has played on Thanksgiving since 2008 when the annual holiday weekend matchup was with former rival Texas A&M. Texas kept its Thanksgiving time slot even after the Aggies left for the Southeastern Conference, with games against TCU and Texas Tech the past four years.

The change was announced Friday. Kickoff time and television broadcast information has not yet been determined.

Texas played on the Friday after Thanksgiving for 12 years from 1996-2007.

The Big 12 also moved Kansas at Texas Tech from Oct. 1 to a Thursday game on Sept. 29.
