Naesean Howard, a former Syracuse defensive back who left the team in September 2014 before re-enrolling in classes this year, has been arrested on charges of stabbing two men, reportedly current Orange defensive backs Chauncey Scissum and Corey Winfield. Howard, 20, faces two charges of assault in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree for the alleged stabbing, local media have reported, citing police. Howard was arraigned in city court Monday, according to Syracuse.com. He is being held on a $40,000 bond. "Everything should be OK, be all right," Scissum's father, Arthur Scissum, told the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle. "He'll be able to continue what he normally does in a short time."  Scissum will stay in the hospital for a few days for observation, his father told the newspaper. Upstate University Hospital listed Winfield in stable condition early Sunday, reports said. Syracuse.com earlier reported the identities of the apparent victims. The circumstances of the stabbing were unclear, police said, according to the reports. Police said Howard knew Scissum and Winfield, who were taken to a hospital separately, in a car and an ambulance, from the scene of the incident at a residence in the school's South Campus area. It was not clear whether Howard, who was being held in the Onondaga County Justice Center, had an attorney. University officials said Howard had been suspended from Syracuse indefinitely. "We are aware of this incident, and our focus right now is on supporting our two students as they recover," Syracuse senior vice president of public affairs Kevin Quinn said in a statement. "The accused individual, who knew the victims, has been suspended from the university indefinitely. We do not tolerate any act of violence, and the safety of our campus and community is a top priority."
