Boise State players expelled after sexual assault investigation

College Football, Boise State Broncos

Boise State football players Marquis Hendrix and Donzale Roddie have been expelled, and Darreon Jackson has been suspended for one year after a sexual assault investigation, according to the Idaho Statesmen.

Hendrix's and Roddie's parents and Jackson's father confirmed the discipline, according to the newspaper.

A female Boise State student told the school's Title IX director that she had been assaulted by the players, all redshirt freshmen, prompting an investigation last fall.

"Boise State is committed to thorough and fair investigations into all allegations of sexual misconduct -- and to holding parties accountable when they are found to be responsible for violating the student code of conduct. But federal privacy laws restrict our ability to comment on any student records or any specific investigations,'' Boise State spokesman Greg Hahn told the Statesman.

No criminal charges have been brought in the case.

The accuser says that she was coerced into performing oral sex on the players and a recruit in separate incidents in August, September and October last year. The players told investigators that the woman was not forced to do anything, and Hendrix's father Jack Hendrix told the Statesman that "we feel their civil rights were violated, that they were interrogated, not given a chance to truly defend themselves."

The school deemed the accuser's testimony credible and decided to discipline the players Wednesday, according to the Statesman.
