Jaylen Fisher, No. 34 prospect, commits to UNLV

Men's College Basketball, UNLV Rebels

ESPN 100 prospect Jaylen Fisher has committed to UNLV, he announced Wednesday.

Fisher, a 6-foot-1 point guard and the No. 1 senior prospect in the state of Tennessee, selected the Rebels over Arkansas, Memphis, Baylor and Indiana.

"I weighed out the pros and cons, and UNLV came out to be the best place for me," Fisher told ESPN. "I really liked the atmosphere."

A four-star prospect from Bolton High School in Arlington, Tennessee, Fisher averaged 20 points and eight assists per game as a junior. Fisher said UNLV coach Dave Rice's system appealed to him, as did the opportunity to play and the talent surrounding him.

"I love the way they get up and down the court and the pieces that I will get to play with, like Goodluck Okonoboh, Patrick McCaw, Dwayne Morgan, Derrick Jones and Stephen Zimmerman, if he is not one and done," Fisher said.

Fisher, who is No. 34 overall in the latest ESPN 100 rankings, is a pass-first point guard and has a reputation as one of the best on-ball defenders in high school basketball.

Fisher joins small forward Justin Jackson, shooting guard Christian Vital and small forward Carlos Johnson in UNLV's 2016 class to date.
