Which recruits are college hoops' top teams targeting?

Insider Men's College Basketball, Syracuse Orange, Connecticut Huskies, Florida State Seminoles, Cincinnati Bearcats

Heading into the all-important July recruiting period, we take a look at recruiting needs and game plans for the top 25 programs in college basketball.

1. Duke Blue Devils

Duke's program is producing one-and-dones every year, and next season looks no different. The Blue Devils are targeting a select few 2017 prospects.

2. Villanova Wildcats

Coming off a national championship, Villanova doesn't have many needs. The Wildcats are still eyeing several top-50 prospects in the Class of 2017.

3. Kentucky Wildcats

With only a handful of players expected to return after next season, John Calipari has Kentucky in the mix for nearly every elite 2017 prospect.

4. Kansas Jayhawks

Kansas freshman Josh Jackson hasn't played a minute at Phog Allen Fieldhouse, but the Jayhawks are already recruiting reinforcements for his departure.

5. Virginia Cavaliers

The Cavaliers bring in a top-10 class of four incoming freshmen, so the Class of 2017 will be a small one. Coach Tony Bennett is aiming high.

6. North Carolina Tar Heels

The Tar Heels could lose Justin Jackson and Kennedy Meeks after next season. Coach Roy Williams has nearly every top-10 2017 prospect on his board.

7. Oregon Ducks

Oregon could lose multiple players to the NBA next spring, so the Ducks are preparing by pursuing plenty of scorers and an elite frontcourt prospect.

8. Wisconsin Badgers

The Badgers will lose Nigel Hayes, Bronson Koenig and the rest of their senior class after next season. Securing a strong 2017 class is crucial.

9. Xavier Musketeers

Xavier could have a big 2017 class, and the Musketeers have plenty of options at each position of need -- including several ESPN 100 prospects.

10. Michigan State Spartans

After losing six players this spring, Michigan State could lose at least five after next season. The Spartans will look to reload in the frontcourt.

11. Indiana Hoosiers

Indiana is already at the scholarship limit for the 2017-18 season, but the Hoosiers have three potential NBA Draft prospects and need reinforcements.

12. Arizona Wildcats

Arizona's success on the court has forced the Wildcats to regularly sign large classes, and 2017 is shaping up to be more of the same.

13. Louisville Cardinals

After relying on graduate transfers last season, the Cardinals are looking for a longer-term solution for scoring.

14. Purdue Boilermakers

The Boilermakers could lose two players to the NBA draft after next season, and they're looking at several top-100 prospects to replace them.

15. West Virginia Mountaineers

To continue their 'Press Virginia' style, Bob Huggins and the Mountaineers need wings and scorers in the Class of 2017.

16. Gonzaga Bulldogs

Gonzaga lost some scoring following last season, but the Bulldogs have restocked via transfer and are looking for backcourt from the Class of 2017.

17. UCLA Bruins

UCLA already has three commitments in the 2017 class, but Steve Alford and the Bruins are aiming high for their final two scholarships.

18. Maryland Terrapins

Maryland will need a replacement for Melo Trimble after next season and will be looking for help at nearly every position from the Class of 2017.

19. Saint Mary's Gaels

The Gaels return everyone from last season's 29-win roster. And with few available scholarships, Randy Bennett has a short list of targets.

20. Creighton Bluejays

The Bluejays already have two top-50 prospects committed for the Class of 2017. Where are they looking next?

21. Rhode Island Rams

Rhode Island enters the season with a veteran roster and high expectations, but stars like E.C. Matthews won't be in Kingston forever.

22. Cincinnati Bearcats

Cincinnati is known for being one of the toughest defensive teams in the country, but the Bearcats are focusing on the offensive end in 2017.

23. Florida State Seminoles

Florida State could lose two or three players to the NBA after next season, so the Noles are hoping to replenish the roster with five-star talents.

24. Connecticut Huskies

Kevin Ollie's offense uses several guards in the backcourt together. So which prospects in the Class of 2017 are the Huskies targeting?

25. Syracuse Orange

After Syracuse's surprising trip to the Final Four, coach Jim Boeheim will have to hit the recruiting trail hard this summer to fill his roster.
