Tyler Davis commits to Texas A&M

Men's College Basketball, Texas A&M Aggies

Texas A&M landed a major commitment on Friday morning from Tyler Davis, a 6-foot-10, 270-pound center from Plano, Texas, and Plano West High School. Davis is ranked as the 21st overall prospect and sixth-best center in the current ESPN 100.

Davis, who was thought to be favoring Kansas at one point, chose the Aggies over not just the Jayhawks but also Arizona, Baylor and Texas, among others, in order to stay close to home and play a starring role from day one.

A true post player who can score and pass with his back to the basket, Davis is expected to quickly establish himself as head coach Billy Kennedy's offensive anchor in the half court.

Davis is a product of the Texas Titans, an AAU team that competes in Nike's EYBL circuit and also produced incoming Aggies freshmen Avery Johnson Jr. and Alex Robinson. Johnson was also high school teammates with Davis at Plano West last season.

Kennedy is now expected to turn his focus to another Plano West and Texas Titans product, 6-7 small forward D.J. Hogg, who is already scheduled to take an official visit to College Station during the first weekend in September.
