Yu Darvish to stay on DL

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Texas Rangers ace Yu Darvish will remain on the disabled list after he's eligible to return next week.

Darvish, who can return Monday, has missed two starts because of inflammation in his right elbow.

Manager Ron Washington said there is no timetable for when Darvish will begin a throwing program and he will need to undergo another MRI before that occurs. On Saturday, Darvish jogged with the other pitchers in the outfield but retreated to the dugout when they started throwing.

"He hasn't picked up a ball yet," Washington said of Darvish.

Washington, who previously thought Darvish would return next week to pitch in Seattle, doubts if the team leader in victories (10) will even make part of a 10-game road trip starting Monday in Seattle and concluding and concluding in Kansas City on Sept. 3. While the team goes to Seattle, Darvish will remain in Dallas to get treatment for his elbow.

"He hasn't done anything to know," Washington said in regard to how much discomfort Darvish is having. "I don't have an answer for you. We haven't allowed him to do anything, but get treatment."
