Each week, I write about the sport I love, college basketball:
• The Missouri Valley Conference made a great decision when it kept its men's basketball tournament in St. Louis through at least 2018. The conference tourney, known as Arch Madness, is a staple during Championship Week.
• Keep Dec. 6 open on your calendar. I am looking forward to a West Coast showdown that day as Gonzaga visits Arizona in a game that could feature two teams in the top 15. It will be fun to watch Sean Miller of the Wildcats and Mark Few of the Zags match wits.
• Indiana added a solid long-range shooter in 6-foot-4 guard Nick Zeisloft from Illinois State. Zeisloft, who earned a degree in finance from Illinois State, will have two years of eligibility remaining. He played two seasons for the Redbirds and was a career 37.3 percent shooter from 3-point range. Zeisloft made 60 3-pointers last season and shot 41.8 percent from long distance.
• Surfing around the Internet, I saw some interesting names on Kelvin Sampson's roster at Houston. Devonta Pollard, who started his career at Alabama, is there. Former Purdue guard Ronnie Johnson is also a Cougar, though he has to sit out the upcoming season as a transfer. There is a young man named Drexler -- Hall of Famer Clyde Drexler's son, Adam, is on the roster. There is also a name veteran basketball observers will recognize as director of basketball operations, Steve Yoder. Sampson also has one of his former stars, ex-Sooner guard Hollis Price, on his support staff.
• Butler suffered a blow when Austin Etherington, a transfer from Indiana, had foot surgery. He is expected to miss three to four months leading up to the season.
