Yankees' Chris Young reportedly strikes out against a pitching machine

The New York Yankees don't appear to be in great shape.

They're coming off an 84-78 year, their lowest full-season win total since 1992. Their most headline-grabbing player is coming off a lengthy suspension and is four years removed from his most recent All-Star Game appearance (we don't have to tell you who that is). Our recent preseason rankings put them in the bottom 10 in Major League Baseball.

Now this, from NJ.com:

The Yankees outfielder struck out swinging against the pitching machine in an intrasquad scrimmage Monday afternoon at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

Young took the K like a champ, laughing about it while teammates ribbed him on his way back to the dugout.

It should be known that, according to Brendan Kuty's report, the machine was no child's batting cage toy, but is known as "Iron Mike" for throwing 90-mph fastballs and is used to give actual Yankees pitchers rest. So this writeup is not to suggest we could do any better; we're most certain we could not.

Still ... Young's strikeout ... the previously alluded-to Alex Rodriguez going 0-for-2 ... not a good look for the Yankees.
