John Wall explains his new tattoo, a tribute to his turbulent past

John Wall recently got inked ... again. While this is not the Washington Wizards star's first brush with body art, it may be his most significant.

In a video for Red Bull's The Red Bulletin, Wall elaborated on his new "Valley of Shadows" tattoo (Jesus Christ and Wall walking up a valley of shadows):

The newest addition to his collection of meaningful chest tattoos is symbolic on many levels.

Not only does it remind him of his grandmother and her favorite Bible passage, but it embodies the troubled past he had to overcome to reach the place he is today:

"It goes back to my tattoo of Psalm 23:4 saying even though you're walking through a valley of death you will fear no evil. So it's like me walking up a Valley of Shadows."

The point guard also broke down some of his other notable ink in the piece:

"All my tattoos mean something to me. I want to make it feel like one big picture."
