Maryland has lost three players and is on the verge of losing an assistant coach. The school announced senior Nick Faust, sophomore Shaquille Cleare and freshman Roddy Peters were granted permission to transfer elsewhere. "I really enjoyed coaching Nick, Shaq and Roddy," Maryland coach Mark Turgeon said in a statement. "It is unfortunate that they will no longer be a part of the program. I wish them the very best in their future endeavors." Faust started 13 games and averaged 9.4 points for the Terps, who finished a disappointing 17-15 this past season. Peters was a heralded recruit who averaged only 4.1 points and 2.1 assists in 15 minutes per game, while Cleare is a big man from Texas who did not figure into Maryland's future plans. Maryland also is expected to lose assistant coach Scott Spinelli to a similar position at Boston College, sources told ESPN. The Terps are expected to return their top four scorers from this past season's team: Dez Wells, Seth Allen, Jake Layman and Evan Smotrycz. Turgeon and his staff also have assembled a strong incoming freshman class that includes guards Romelo Trimble (ESPN-ranked No. 30) and Dion Wiley (No. 52) and big man Trayvon Reed (No. 68).
