Tim Floyd out of running at Mizzou

Men's College Basketball, UTEP Miners, Missouri Tigers

UTEP's Tim Floyd had emerged as a strong candidate for the Missouri opening, but is no longer being considered for the job, a source close to the situation told ESPN.

Floyd, 60, has spent the past four seasons with the Miners and has a team that is expected to compete for the Conference USA title next season. Floyd also spent four seasons at USC and led the Trojans to three NCAA tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 in 2007.

Floyd was also the coach of the Chicago Bulls and New Orleans Hornets in the NBA.

ESPN's Andy Katz previously reported that Central Missouri coach Kim Anderson, a Missouri alum, was also in the mix to replace Frank Haith -- who left last week for Tulsa.
