Underwood to stay at SFA

Stephen F. Austin coach Brad Underwood withdrew his name from consideration Wednesday night after ongoing discussions between Marshall University and Underwood's representation, a source with direct knowledge told ESPN.com.

Underwood coached SFA to a 32-3 record, 18-0 in the Southland and a round of 64 upset win over VCU in the NCAA tournament. The Lumberjacks then lost to UCLA in the round of 32.

Marshall bought out the final two years of Tom Herrion's contract after a four-year run.

Underwood, a former Frank Martin assistant at Kansas State and South Carolina, completed his first season as head coach last month with SFA's run to the round of 32. SFA will be the consensus favorite to win the Southland in 2014-15.
