Bill Carmody to coach Holy Cross

Holy Cross will announce Bill Carmody is the next head coach of the Crusaders at a news conference Thursday in Worcester, Massachusetts, multiple sources told ESPN.

Carmody will replace Milan Brown, who was fired after five seasons. The Crusaders were 14-16 this past season and 8-10 in the Patriot League. The team went 69-83 during Brown's tenure.

Carmody, 63, spent this past season as a special assistant and adviser to Fairfield coach Sydney Johnson. He won 284 games at Princeton and Northwestern. He was a longtime assistant under Pete Carril at Princeton prior to becoming the head coach and was the Big Ten coach of the year in 2003-04. He was replaced at Northwestern two seasons ago by Chris Collins.
