Bobby Hurley status in limbo

Men's College Basketball, Buffalo Bulls, DePaul Blue Demons

Despite reports to the contrary, Bobby Hurley has not reached an agreement to remain the coach of the Buffalo Bulls, a source told ESPN.com's Jeff Goodman on Wednesday.

The Buffalo News and The Associated Press have reported, citing sources, that Hurley, who has emerged as a contender for the DePaul job, has agreed to a contract that will make him the highest-paid coach in the Mid-American Conference -- surpassing Ohio coach Saul Phillips, who makes $550,000 per year.

Hurley, 43, is a former Duke star and NBA point guard who took the Bulls to the NCAA tournament this year, just his second heading up the program. Hurley previously was an assistant under his brother, Danny, at Wagner and Rhode Island.

A source had told ESPN on Tuesday that Hurley, whose team lost to West Virginia in the round of 64, was expected to interview at DePaul this weekend for the job vacated by Oliver Purnell, who was 54-105 in five seasons.
