Tulane transfer Dylan Osetkowski picks Texas over Arizona

Texas has landed Tulane transfer Dylan Osetkowski, he told ESPN.

Osetkowski chose the Longhorns over Arizona, although Oklahoma, Baylor, Marquette, Maryland and several other schools also reached out to him over the past couple of weeks. He visited Texas' campus this past weekend and will no longer take his scheduled trip to Arizona for the upcoming weekend.

"I called Coach [Shaka] Smart a little while ago," he said. "It was the right fit for me. I felt it was the best option for me.

"The ultimate reason, obviously, Coach Smart and the rest of the staff blew me away while I was there."

Osetkowski, a 6-foot-9 power forward, averaged 11.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game as a sophomore. He was considered one of the top frontcourt transfers in the country.

"I'll bring my basketball IQ, being able to score outside and inside," he said. "I'll be a big threat offensively, whatever the coaches need. I'm just helping the team make a big run in the tournament."

He will sit out the 2016-17 season and have two years of eligibility remaining.
