Rick Pitino: 'Don't have time to figure out' what John Calipari meant

Louisville coach Rick Pitino said he'll ask Kentucky coach John Calipari to clarify the recent comments he made on the "Mike Lupica Show" that seemed critical of Cardinals basketball, which is dealing with a sex-for-pay scandal that prompted the school to self-impose a postseason ban last year.

Pitino has said he was unaware of any improprieties related to the scandal.

On Lupica's show, Calipari said, "If it happens on your campus and it happens with your assistants and those people, you probably have a good idea of what's going on," in what appeared to be a reference to Louisville's current situation.

"I don't have time to figure out what he did or didn't mean," Pitino said Monday on Terry Meiners' radio show on 840 WHAS in Louisville. "If our paths cross this summer, I'll ask him."

Pitino added that he doesn't criticize other coaches because he doesn't want to "tear people down."

"Whether it's Duke last month now us this month, these types of comments - we're here to build up the image of college basketball, not tear people down," Pitino said. "I don't live in a glass house, and I don't throw stones. ... We have a rule in the ACC amongst the coaches that unless you're praising each other and building each other up, keep it to yourself and mind your own business."
