Dan Duquette, Jays close to deal

Orioles executive vice president Dan Duquette and the Blue Jays are closing in on a much-discussed deal that would send Duquette to Toronto to be the Blue Jays' president and CEO, sources told ESPN.

If a deal is reached, Duquette's compensation with Toronto will be substantial, sources told ESPN's Buster Olney.

An unsourced report out of Toronto on Wednesday said Paul Beeston would remain the Blue Jays' president and CEO for the 2015 season. Meanwhile, Orioles owner Peter Angelos recently told the Baltimore Sun that he expects Duquette to remain in his current role with the club. Duquette was hired in 2011 as the Orioles' general manager since 2011.

Baltimore won the AL East going away last season with 96 victories before being swept by Kansas City in the ALCS.

ESPN's Jim Bowden contributed to this report.
