Al Alburquerque, Tigers reach deal

MLB, Detroit Tigers

DETROIT -- Relief pitcher Al Alburquerque and the Tigers have reached an agreement on a one-year contract for $1,725,000.

Alburquerque would earn a $12,500 bonus if he appears in 75 games as a pitcher this year.

The Tigers announced the deal Sunday. The right-hander was the last Tigers player left in salary arbitration.

The 28-year-old Alburquerque was 3-1 with a 2.51 ERA in 72 games last year for the American League Central champions. He made $837,500 last season and asked for $2.05 million this year, with the Tigers offering $1,375,000.
