LaTroy Hawkins: 2015 final year

LaTroy Hawkins says he will retire after the 2015 season.

The Colorado Rockies' closer, 42 years old and entering his 21st season in the major leagues, told the Denver Post that his plans are set no matter how well he pitches this year.

"It's pretty simple. My daughter needs me," the right-hander said. "She's at that age where life starts to gets tougher, when things start changing. My wife [Anita] and I have talked about this. I want to be there for her, and I don't want all of that on my wife's shoulders."

Hawkins' daughter Troi is 13.

"Kind of a challenging age, don't you think?" Hawkins told the Post. "She loves what I do, and she loves the major league life, but now it's time for me to be home more often."

Hawkins is the oldest active player in the major leagues. He went 4-3 with a 3.31 ERA and 23 saves last season with the Rockies.
