Charlie Morton set to rejoin Pirates after final rehab start

Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Charlie Morton made what was expected to be the last of his three rehab starts Tuesday night, pitching 6⅓ innings for Triple-A Indianapolis and allowing two runs and two hits with four walks and nine strikeouts against Pawtucket of the International League.

Morton is recovering from September 2014 hip surgery to repair his labrum. He was expected to miss six to eight months.

The 31-year-old went 6-12 with a 3.72 ERA last season.

He reportedly will take the place of Vance Worley in the Pirates rotation when he is activated off the DL.
