Atlanta Braves backup infielder Phil Gosselin had successful surgery on his fractured left thumb Wednesday.
Thank you to @Braves country for all of the kind words and support! Surgery went great this morning I can't wait to get back on the field!

Gosselin, who injured the thumb while diving for a ground ball on May 17, will miss about eight weeks. The 26-year-old is hitting .325 with two RBIs in 40 at-bats after making the Opening Day roster for the first time in his big league career.
