Rockies hint Justin Morneau (concussion) isn't ready to return

Colorado Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau will not be ready to return when his stint on the seven-day concussion disabled list is up Friday, manager Walt Weiss said.

"It's probably not just [seven days]," Weiss said before the Rockies' 7-3 win over Philadelphia on Thursday. "I'm not going to say it's going to be a whole lot longer than that, but he's not going to be in the lineup in two days."

Morneau, the reigning NL batting champion, was injured while diving for a ground ball against the Angels on May 13. He also suffered a cervical neck sprain on the play. He is batting .290 with three home runs and nine RBIs in 27 games this season.

The 34-year-old Morneau has suffered multiple concussions in his career, and missed much of the 2010 and 2011 seasons while dealing with concussion-related symptoms and other injuries.
