Charlie Morton will rejoin the Pittsburgh Pirates' starting rotation Monday to make his season debut against the Miami Marlins.
Morton underwent offseason hip surgery and hasn't started a game in the majors since last September. The right-hander is coming off a solid rehab start for Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.
Pirates manager Clint Hurdle announced the team's plan for Morton's activation Friday. Pittsburgh will shift right-hander Vance Worley to the bullpen to open a rotation spot for Morton.
"We're all eager to see [Morton], and he's eager to get back out there in a major league uniform and help us," Hurdle told reporters, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Morton, 31, went 6-12 with a 3.72 ERA last season.
