Brandon Moss on Indians: 'Looks like we have no heart'

There was no hiding the Cleveland Indians' frustration Sunday after they were shut out in both ends of a doubleheader for the first time since 1973.

"If you were on the outside looking in, it would look like we have no heart," Brandon Moss said after the two losses to the Baltimore Orioles dropped the Indians to 12 games out in the AL Central. "I can't blame them."

And it's not just the players who are feeling the effects.

"Today was not a pretty day for us," said manager Terry Francona, who was ejected in the ninth inning of the 8-0 loss to the Orioles in the nightcap. "But I don't see guys grinding the bat ... we're just not doing the things we're capable of doing."

Cleveland (33-41) absorbed its first doubleheader sweep since Sept. 8, 2009, against Texas. From the start of the 2010 season through last year, the Indians owned a 23-7 record in 15 doubleheaders.

Moss isn't sure if the Indians, who have gone 6-13 over the past 19 games, can pull out of the tailspin, but he hasn't given up on the season ... yet.

"I know what we look like and I know how we feel," Moss said. "They're two totally different things. We're to the point to where, if we don't clean it up, if we don't start playing better baseball, we're not going to do what this team is capable of doing; we're going to be playing spoilers come August. That's not what we had in mind."
