Tigers' Alex Avila targets return by end of week

Catcher Alex Avila, who has been on the disabled list since May 8 with a left knee injury, said Monday that he's ready to return to the Detroit Tigers by the end of the week.

"I feel fine, I feel good," Avila told reporters after catching for Triple-A Toledo in back-to-back games. "My knee feels good. My legs feel good. I have no complaints. ... Being out for two months, you would expect some cobwebs."

Avila, 28, is batting .200 with two home runs and eight RBIs this season, his seventh with the Tigers.
