Jays add Mark Lowe to bullpen mix

The Toronto Blue Jays continue to bolster their playoff chances, acquiring reliever Mark Lowe from the Seattle Mariners, the Blue Jays announced Friday.

It's the latest deal this week for the busy Blue Jays, who also acquired ace left-hander David Price from the Detroit Tigers and shortstop Troy Tulowitzki from the Colorado Rockies as they make a push in the AL East.

Lowe, 32, is in the midst of a career year, posting a sterling 1.00 ERA with a 47/11 K/BB ratio in 36 innings. He appeared in just 18 games during the 2013-14 seasons and was a non-roster invite to Mariners' spring training, starting the season in the minors before being called up in early May.

The right-hander is the second addition to the Toronto bullpen, following the acquisition of LaTroy Hawkins, who was part of the Tulowitzki deal.

In return, the Mariners receive minor leaguers Nick Wells, Jacob Brentz and Rob Rasmussen.
