Tests check out OK for Adam Jones; CF plays for Orioles

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Baltimore center fielder Adam Jones was in the lineup for Friday night's 4-1 loss to the Texas Rangers, a day after he ran into a wall and exited early.

Jones went 1-for-4 with two strikeouts.

Jones was examined before the game at Texas by Rangers team doctor Keith Meister. Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Jones passed all of the exams, including a concussion test.

Jones was hurt Thursday while chasing a fly ball in Kansas City in the first inning. The five-time All-Star left in the third.

"He's fine. Ready to go," Showalter said before the game. "We were hoping he would be. We wanted to go through all the proper channels to get there."

Jones is hitting .280 with 24 home runs and 66 RBIs.

Showalter said he wasn't surprised that Jones was ready to go.

"Knowing Adam, I thought it was 50-50," he said. "He's been real frank and honest with us. I appreciated him yesterday telling us the whiplash gives you a little fuzz there. He feels good today. If there's problem during the game, we'll make an adjustment."
