Mariners place OF Leonys Martin on 15-day DL with left hamstring strain

SEATTLE -- The Seattle Mariners placed outfielder Leonys Martin on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring and recalled outfielder Stefen Romero before Friday night's 7-2 loss to Minnesota.

Martin left Wednesday's game against Oakland after getting injured stealing a base. The roster move with Martin was retroactive to Thursday, an off day for the Mariners.

Martin, acquired in an offseason trade with Texas, is hitting .262 with nine home runs and 20 RBIs.

Romero, who appeared in 85 games with the Mariners in 2014 and 2015, was batting .358 at Triple-A Tacoma with seven home runs and 34 RBIs in 30 games.

Romero batted eighth for Seattle on Friday, going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts.
