Aledmys Diaz wears catcher's gear in dugout after getting hit by baseballs twice in two days

Aledmys Diaz had a tough start to his week.

First, in the ninth inning of the St. Louis Cardinals' 6-2 loss to the Kansas City Royals on Monday, he was hit by a foul ball that bounced off home plate, ricocheted up and hit him in the face.

On Tuesday night, he was hit by a line drive while sitting in the dugout.

Fed up with taking both direct hits, he decided to do something about it on Wednesday against Kansas City. The Cardinals shortstop wore catcher's equipment (mitt included) in the dugout to protect himself.

In the small chance that a ball comes his way for the third night in a row, he will be ready.
